Wedding Element - Handfasting
Handfasting is an ancient marriage ritual popular with modern couples. The ceremony involves a couple’s hands being placed together and bound with ribbon or cord. Couples can choose colours that tie in with their wedding theme or perhaps a colour that has special meaning to them. Cord, ribbon, lace, or any material of your choice can be used and there are several ways that the materials can be fastened; family members or guests can also be involved in this meaningful act.
The jumping of the broom signifies leaving your old single life behind and jumping into a new life as a married couple.

A decorated broom is placed on the floor in front of the newly weds and often a few words are said before the couple jump and start their new life together.
The Unity Sand element is a fun one that can combine sand taken from your 2 hometowns, or perhaps somewhere that has special meaning to you both. The idea is that there are 3 vessels, 2 filled with sand for partner 1 and 2, you will then join the grains into the empty 3rd vessel, and like grains of sand, once joined, they cannot be separated. Children and family members can be involved in this fun element.
